There’s little else as exciting as the feeling of the first warm breeze of spring wafting in to remind you that now is the perfect time for a refresh – whether that be of your wardrobe, of your pantry or of your beauty arsenal.
Beauty editor Kelsey Ferencak has rounded up the six products that deserve an update this spring.
#1. The makeup stick
Make-up in a stick is one of beauty’s best inventions. Swipe it over cheeks, lips, eyes or wherever you need a wash of colour and dab in with fingers. It’s the ideal formulation for when you’re on the go, aren’t that confident when it comes to make-up application, or just want a quick touch-up.
Shop it: Mecca Max Off Duty Blush Stick, $18, at Mecca; Napoleon Perdis Cheek Switch Crème Blush Stick, $49, at Adore Beauty
#2. The serum
It may sound like a hard-to-understand scientific term, but niacinamide is simply a form of vitamin B3, and one of the most sought-after skincare ingredients. Usually found in serums, this powerful antioxidant works across a number of skin concerns, helping to improve tone and texture while also brightening and protecting the skin’s barrier – something you’ll need during the change of season.
Shop it: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, $9.90, at The Ordinary; Alpha-H Vitamin B, $59.46, at Adore Beauty
#3. The scent
Armani Beauty is aiming to make all its products carbon neutral by 2025. This bright, white floral scent is made with sustainably sourced ingredients from around the world – with notes of tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom, cedar wood and vanilla. It is also housed in a recycled, recyclable and refillable bottle, marking this fragrance as the brand’s next step towards its goal.
Shop it: Giorgio Armani Beauty My Way EDP, from $105, at Adore Beauty
#4. The body lotion
Pep up your skin after its winter hibernation with this glow-inducing body lotion. Coconut, jojoba and rosehip smooth and hydrate, while the 100 per cent natural DHA (the ingredient that builds a sunless tan) gives skin a natural dose of radiance.
Shop it: Luna Bronze Radiant Self Tanning Lotion, $32.95, at Luna Bronze
#5. The hair styler
While beach hair is always on trend, as we look towards summer, this year it will be all about “mermaid waves”. Think of the look as a halfway point between crimping and curls, and strands that look as if you’ve just emerged from the salty depths of the ocean. Instead of having to brave the waves, you can recreate the style at home with this handy tool.
Shop it: Mermade Hair Hair Waver, $89, at Shaver Shop
#6. The lip oil
This season is less about lipstick and more about barely there oils and tints. Instead of coating your pout in heavy colour, try a subtle hint of sheen for a natural finish.
Shop it: Clockwise from left: Lanolips Lip Water Watermelon, $23, at Sephora; Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss, $43, at Mecca andVersed Silk Slip Tinted Lip Oil, $17, at Cult Beauty
