Kayla Itsines eliminated her adult acne with these budget-friendly products

Kayla Itsines may look like she has it all: ripped abs, endless amounts of activewear, a loving partner, a beautiful baby girl and a whopping 11.7 million Instagram followers.

But it turns out there is one aspect of her life that hasn’t been so perfect, and has in actual fact, made her feel insure for many years. Her skin.

The mother-of-one took to her Instagram story on Monday this week to explain exactly how she was able to rid her acne and maintain healthy clear skin simply using budget-friendly products.

She began by sharing a before-and-after close up picture of her skin. In the first pic, acne is visible on the surface of Itsines’ skin.

“I was so upset in this photo, my skin was so sore,” she explains, referring to the before photo. “The other side of my g=face was so much worse but I was too embarrassed to take a photo of it.”

In the second pic, it appears drastically clearer.

Kayla then continues, taking her followers through a complete guide to her skincare routine she does in the morning and night.

“I want to show you this because it’s so simple and easy and you can do it morning and night,” Itsines explains. “There’s not a special one for the morning and a special one for night, you can do this morning and night and the products are not hundreds and hundreds of dollars.”

1. Cleanser

“Under $15 you can buy Cetaphil for oily skin and that gets your makeup off, and that’s what I use. I got makeup on? Cetaphil, one quick wash and it gets my makeup off.”

2. Exfoliator

Kayla praised this product for solely clearing her skin.

Honestly, I tried everything and this $13 or $14… it’s called Envy U Skincare, charcoal, the charcoal one. I swear it fixed my skin,” she said.

3. Additional cleansing step

The 27-year-old then went on to explain she uses her charcoal product with the Foreo Luna Go For Normal Skin Tool, to clean the skin further and help products penetrate into her skin deeper.

“And so I use this Foreo thing and I rub it on there and I rub it on my face. I don’t really know what it does but I like it and it makes my skin feel good, kinda smooth.”

4. Serum

It goes without saying that Hyaluronic acid seems to be all the rage atm, and even Kayla is onboard – especially during winter.

“In winter this is what I use. It’s hyaluronic acid, you can find it in lots of different products,” Kayla adds. “Those scary white sheet masks that people wear over their face? That has hyaluronic acid in it. So I just put a tiny bit over my face just in winter.”

5. Sensitive moisturiser

The mother-of-one explains this sensitive moisturiser from La Roche-Posay saved her when she was suffering from dermatitis during her pregnancy.

“During pregnancy, I got dermatitis all over my face and I didn’t know what to do, so I just got a sensitive moisturiser from the pharmacy – it’s La Roche-Pos– I can never say this. It’s just a sensitive moisturiser if you have sensitive skin, something light and that doesn’t clog your pores.”

6. Eye cream

She finishes up her skincare routine with an eye serum (although later notes her fans have told her eye cream comes before moisturiser, LOL).

“So eye cream, Drunk Elephant. I just use it after I put my moisturiser on – that’s the last thing I do and then I’m done.”
