Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Daniel Barrett wants the industry, and celebrities, to be more transparent around the Botox, fillers and surgery they’ve had – starting with Hailey Bieber.
As the increase in demand around cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery continues to grow around the globe – The American Society of Plastic Surgeons noted growth rates in procedures from 2000 to 2018 of up to 163% overall, celebrities are fighting back when it comes to claims that they’ve ever jumped on board the Botox bandwagon.
Which is strange, considering the popularity of treatments like dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections has never been higher.
In the latest juicy celebrity gossip to catch our eye, 23-year-old Hailey Bieber (nee Baldwin), is suing a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who suggested she had work done to her face.
Side note: she has been really getting into skincare lately, like all of us. So it could be the results of her new routine?

Last week, Bieber also slammed an Instagram account that did the same thing, commenting on the post: “Stop using pics that are edited by makeup artists! This photo on the right is NOT what I look like… I’ve never touched my face so If you’re gonna sit around and compare me at 13, and then me at 23, at least use a natural photo that wasn’t edited so crazy.”
It was also a day after her friend and mum-to-be Gigi Hadid addressed rumours that she too, went under the knife. During an Instagram Live she said, “People think I do fillers on my face, and that’s why my face is round – I’ve had this since I was born. Especially [during] fashion month, when I was already a few months preggo… I have the cheeks already, so there’s not a lot to fill in.”
“I’ve never injected anything into my face. I’m so happy for everyone to do whatever they want that makes them happy and makes them feel more comfortable and good about themselves. Me personally, it terrifies me. I feel like I’m too much of a control freak that I’m like, what if it goes wrong?”
Plastic surgeon and TikTok-er Dr Daniel Barrett shared a post with two photos of Bieber taken years apart to his almost 350 000 followers. In the video, he references her claims that she’s never had any plastic surgery done and goes on to share his thoughts.
“I think it’s physically impossible, without getting a little bit of help from someone like myself, to go from this picture to that picture,” he says. He also suggests that Bieber has had a nose job, a skin-tightening procedure, jawline contouring, and genioplasty, as well as filler in her cheeks and lips.
According to E! News, the Bieber’s attorneys sent Dr. Barrett a cease-and-desist letter accusing him of using Hailey to “commercially advertise [his] plastic surgery practice and to spread false, uncorroborated claims that Mrs. Bieber has undergone plastic surgery.” They also accuse him on copyright infringement for using Justin’s song, ‘Sorry’.
The Bieber’s are demanding Dr. Barrett delete the video and issue a public statement retracting his claims, otherwise they’re going to sue.
Transparency for tweakments
But Dr. Barrett isn’t backing down. In a statement to E! News, he said, “The purpose of my TikTok account is to increase the transparency of plastic surgery and to educate people about plastic surgery. The purpose of the video was not to disparage Hailey Bieber in any way. The purpose of my video was to share my opinion about the procedures that I believed she may have had done based on photos alone.”
The Bieber’s are yet to respond.
But if celebrities are so quick to dispute any claims of assistance, what else does the future hold for those interested in a tweakment?
