How to tackle turkey neck, sagging skin and a lax jawline

The tips, tricks, topicals, tools and treatments to target turkey neck.

It’s no secret the skin below our jaw ages considerably faster than that on our face (yeah, you really do need a body care routine). Sagging, crepey and wrinkles are more pronounced (and harder to treat). There’s plenty of factors responsible: the skin on the neck is thinner than the face, it’s under constant muscle strain (looking down at screens AKA ‘tech neck’) and we often forget to apply sunscreen and skincare below the chin. But thanks to high-tech innovation there’s topicals, tools and treatments to stop turkey neck in it’s tracks.

The treatments:

The non-invasive face lift

Using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), this treatment has been dubbed the ‘non-surgical facelift’ for it’s tightening, lifting and sculpting capabilities.

The technology delivers concentrated waves of ultrasound into layers of the skin through heat to promote neo-collagenesis. New collagen is formed, plumping out wrinkles while firming and tightening the skin. It can be used all over the face, or along the jawline to target sagging skin and undefined contours.

What it feels like: There are three rounds to go through, each target different layers of skin and become more intense. Depending on your pain level you may only feel a slight warming and tingling sensation, to a more deep ache. For a full run-down and before-and-afters, head here.

Results: Best results can be seen within six to eight weeks, with a slight change in definition immediately after. Upkeep is annual.

PDO Mono Threadlift

Back in November actress Eva Mendes posted a photo to her Instagram of herself in the process of a mono-thread treatment. The image itself is quite graphic – seven syringe-like needles implanted along the underside of her jawline.

Mono threading, also called a PDO threadlift uses multiple threads inserted into the skin to tighten before being replaced a few months later with collagen strands. They’re ideal for gently tightening and toning sagging contours, or as a preventive procedure. It won’t lift, but instead prevent loss of elasticity by stimulating collagen production.

What it feels like: Pain is minimal, however a topical anesthetic can be applied to make it virtually pain free. Bruising and swelling is common.

Results: Can last one to two years with upkeep permitted anytime if needed.
