What is flying off the virtual shelves at Adore Beauty? Body+Soul investigates.

As much of Australia lives through lockdown, online shopping has been a very fun (albeit costly) activity to keep the days from melding into one big Netflix binge.

With all this time on our hands, we have every opportunity for some little self-care moments (although we’d hope a surprise meeting doesn’t get called mid-way through a WFH sheet mask).

If you’re wondering what your fellow Aussies have been purchasing like crazy during lockdown – and let’s be honest we’re all a little nosy – never fear. Adore Beauty has shared their top trending products that you too might want to add to your list.

Top trending products during lockdown:

KEVIN.MURPHY FRESH.HAIR Dry Shampoo 250mL, $39.95

This sulphate-free, cruelty free dry shampoo is the perfect choice for a last minute zoom-call.

“Dry shampoo has been a consistent best-seller since the pandemic started. I think we’d all rather spend our time watching another episode of Friends than drying our hair, and slick (read: oily) ponytails don’t look so bad on Zoom…,” says Joanna Fleming, Beauty Editor at Adore Beauty.

Maison Balzac Amber Burner , $59

Aromatherapy at home has never looked so good with this gorgeous 70’s style amber glass burner.

“Tell me you’re bougie without *telling* me you’re bougie. We’re spending more time at home than ever, so I think we’re seeing an upward trend in treat-yourself homewares items because we want to be surrounded by nice stuff (that also happens to look good on your Instagram story),” Fleming says.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt 250ml , $69

We might be washing our hair less when in lockdown, but when we do we make an event out of it. This scrub will help exfoliate and restore balance to sensitive and oily scalps and is free of parabens, colourants and silicones.

“This product also aligns with the excessive use of dry shampoo which tends to build up on the scalp, causing itchiness, dryness and/or flaking. Using a scrub every few washes helps to remove that product build-up and any flaky bits, leaving the hair fresh and clean. It’s also great for oily scalps,” Fleming advises.

Aspect Probiotic Mask , $62

The OG of lockdown self-care: an overnight hydrating mask for restoring your skin barrier.

“I’m not surprised this one is flying out the door – it’s one of my all-time favourite hydrating masks because it’s packed with nourishing ingredients to soothe, comfort and moisturise the skin.”

Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse – Ultra Dark 120ml, $39.95

“Ever heard the saying “nothing can alter your mood quite like fake tan”? Well, I just made that up, but it’s true according to creators on TikTok like James Joblin, and I wholeheartedly agree. None of us can fully explain why it makes us feel that little bit better, it just does, and that’s why we buy it. If you thought fake tan was just a “going out” thing, you’re wrong!”

Trophy Skin RejuvaliteMD, $325

You’ve probably been thinking about it for a while, and there’s no greater investment excuse than a lockdown to bring your facial home.

“I’m going to put my hand up and take responsibility for this being a best-seller. I absolutely rave about LED Light Therapy, and this device is the ultimate lockdown companion for skin rejuvenation – it’s like a decor item in my bedroom now.”

…because there’s no lockdown on self-love.

“If you were thinking of investing in a device and haven’t yet, I’ll leave you with this: when you orgasm, your body releases the hormone oxytocin into the bloodstream which can decrease stress,” Fleming says.
