Recently, Kayla Itsines took to Instagram to share something other than a killer workout. Instead, she opened up about her adult acne and the affordable products that helped clear up her skin without breaking the bank. In the video, she explains how she’s tried everything to clear up her skin, but it was Envy U Skin Activated Charcoal Loofah, $21 that did the trick.
So we tracked it down and put it to the test.I won’t lie, I don’t have acne *knocks on wood* but I do get the odd hormonal breakout and I definitely have my fair share of blackheads clogging my t-zone. But this product sounded like it would work for me, too.
Formulated with activated charcoal, the brand claims it works to deep cleanse your pores by drawing out impurities and exfoliating skin. However, I was concerned about the potential drying factor because it looks like a bar of soap – and it’s been instilled in my brain to never put soap on your face. But I did, and it was fine! In fact, it was kind of hydrating, thanks to key ingredient glycerine.
The bar itself feels like a gritty scrub, so you need to be extra gentle when rubbing it on your face as it’s a bit scratchy. Better yet, rub it in between your hands and then on to your skin if you’re on the sensitive side . Or, copy Kayla and apply it with the Foreo Luna 3 Normal, ($299 at Mecca).
It felt like a really good exfoliating cleanser and I ended up using it all over my neck, arms and back. It also claims to help with skin detoxing, eczema and psoriasis , so I figured it couldn’t hurt. I haven’t noticed any significant differences in my skin, but its super convenient, hasn’t made my face flare up and I’ve been using it as a body wash most days – so it’s doing double the work!
