What’s the first thing you do to wind down before bed?
At the end of every day, I always wind down by spending time in my beauty boudoir and performing my supercharged skincare rituals. Skincare is self-care and self-love and over the last few months, I’ve come to really appreciate these moments of calm and reflection every evening and I’ve found myself gravitating even more to these rituals. I often say my bathroom is my sanctuary, that’s where you’ll find me relaxing and recharging by giving myself at-home facials with my research-powered skincare products.
And the last thing you do before you go to sleep?
The last thing I do before I go to sleep at night is remind myself of everything that I have achieved that day and everything that I am thankful for. I try to note at least three moments during the day which have brought me happiness, given me a boost of energy and confidence or made me feel empowered – it’s so important to find joy in every day, especially during the pandemic. I also set my intentions for the day ahead as this helps me get into a positive mindset before I fall asleep.
Talk us through your night-time beauty routine…
My night-time beauty routine always starts with a double cleanse using my Goddess Cleansing Ritual. It’s so important to deeply cleanse the skin at the end of every day to remove makeup, dirt and impurities. Firstly, I use the cleansing oil to melt away surface impurities like makeup and SPF, while gently moisturising and nourishing. I follow this with my Purifying Charcoal Cleanse, this works on the deeper-rooted dirt, the everyday pollution, purifying the complexion, unblocking pores and leaving your skin feeling more balanced and perfectly cleansed.
Multi-masking is an important part of my routine too, I apply a mask every night to either smooth and tighten the appearance of my pores and hydrate skin or to brighten, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and plump the skin full of moisture.
I also use my new Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial twice a week as part of my evening routine. It’s an expert exfoliator that refines, resurfaces and reawakens my skin – it’s a complete game-changer.
After cleansing and masking, I’ll apply a layer of Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. The formula contains high-performance ingredients including Replexium®, Polyglutamic Acid and Golden Vitamin C for glowing, younger looking skin. Next, I apply my Magic Night Cream – I call this beauty sleep in a jar, it bathes your skin in a fountain of youth whilst you sleep!
To finish my night-time beauty routine, I’ll apply my famous bedroom eye which I wear to bed every night! I define, lift and elongate the appearance of my eyes using with my Rock N’ Kohl eyeliner in Barbarella Brown to give them the appearance of a more feline, seductive shape.
Do you take any supplements or sleep-aids?
I’m obsessed with crystals and their magic – I always carry them with me and I keep them in my bedroom too. Crystals are all about radiating a positive energy so, I surround myself with them to amplify their infectious, mood-reviving power. They bring me a feeling of protection and love which makes me feel calm and helps me relax before sleep! I have a crystal bowl in my bathroom too which I chime to bring in that amazing, positive energy, it helps me to clear my mind in the most magical way so, I feel light and more empowered.
What do you sleep on?
I adore silk pillowcases. Many of my dermatologist friends recommend sleeping on silk for its beauty benefits. It keeps skin cooler which helps to reduce redness and inflammation and with its smooth fibres can also reduce skin creasing during sleep so, you won’t wake in the morning with texture marks on the skin. Silk is less absorbent than many other materials so can retain the skin’s moisture and help to keep your skincare on your face as you sleep without it slipping or rubbing off. My go-to brand is Slip.
What’s your stance on technology before bed?
I do try to switch off in the evenings at a reasonable time to have some down time although when you’re running a business it’s not always possible! I’m constantly thinking of my next big innovation that will make everyone’s beauty dreams come true so, I never really switch off but, I do feel incredibly lucky that I have so many amazing opportunities. This is my dream and I love what I do! I do make sure I have time for my children in the evenings so we can spend time together and I always put them to bed, that is very important to me.
What do you do if you can’t drift off or have trouble sleeping – do you have a go-to fix?
I’ve always been a good sleeper. Sleep is so important for your mood and your mindset so getting enough hours each night is always a priority for me. I’m all about creating a relaxed atmosphere in the evenings before I go to sleep, scent and lighting are really important for setting the right mood so, everyevening I light candles all around the house. I also have regular acupuncture sessions which help me to relax and unwind.
